It's still early, everyone is new, and the way CBS flops between tribes it's hard to keep straight who is on what tribe. But here's my first impression of everyone:
Zhan Hu Tribe: Made a poor shelter and lost the first challenge. Fire was handed to them after tribal council...apparently they don't have to suffer until they win it this year.
Frosti - Excellent athlete, but so far doesn't appear too sharp upstairs. Lost the challenge lead when he forgot to drop a bridge and had to go back. Appeared to not know what to do at the end of the challenge.
Dave - Took on leader role at tribal council -- something he should have done earlier. May have trouble with P-G, who also wants to lead.
Erik - Didn't stand out much in this episode.
Chicken - Disappointed in him. He knew what needed to be done, and how to do it, but was unwilling to share for fear of becoming a leader. Worse yet, his actions made it obvious to the others that he was holding back. Experienced in survival, inept in society. Five votes sent him packing.
Jaime - Eye-candy. Seems ok in the outdoors. Not much story on her yet.
Peih-Gee - Outspoken, wants to be in charge, but doesn't seem to have the respect of the others. Ashley clearly doesn't like her.
Sherea - Seems to be in the eye-candy and whining categories so far. Should have known better than to wear high-heels during any kind of Survivor event -- past seasons should've taught everyone to wear practical stuff at all times.
Ashley - Started out sick. Boasted to the camera that she could operate fine sick, but her actions weren't matching her words. Probably would have been the first one out if Chicken had tried. She did get two of the eight votes.
Fei Long Tribe: Got their act together and made a good shelter. Won the first challenge. Other tribe got more coverage this episode.
James - Another great athlete. Hard worker. Seemed to be putting on a dumb brawn act, but his brains showed in the challenge. He's pretty safe until the game stops needing brawn so much. Leslie seems to be trying to take him under her wing. Eye-candy for you ladies.
Jean-Robert - Already a celebrity in poker circles. Any top poker player will have already read The Art of War. He's already into the mental game with people -- perhaps a bit too early. We'll see how well it works.
Todd - Smart gay guy. Already crossed swords with Jean-Robert.
Aaron - Nominal leader of the tribe, but it was really Todd who put his name up for the job.
Leslie - Had to step out of the spiritual ceremony because her faith teaches her not to bow down to anyone. She's a Christian radio talk show host! Yet she told the world that she's not religious. A hypocrite.
Amanda - Eye-candy and a competent outdoors person. But doesn't stand out in this episode.
Courtney - True NY city girl who apparently doesn't like anything greener than Central Park. Easily bored and doesn't follow the program well. Spoiled brat syndrome, but I bet she wants the money.
Denise - The lunch-room lady I incorrectly predicted would be first out. She appears to have lost some weight since the early interviews, but we didn't see much of her in this episode.
