The show tonight is the traditional restaurant wars. First, though, we must get through the "Quickfire Challenge."
The Quickfire Challenge is being judged Daniel Boulud and is the "Red Robin Challenge." Each chef is told that they must look at the Red Robin Restaurant menu and plan a gourmet burger to be featured on the menu. They are also informed from now on there will be no immunity given to the winner of the Quickfire Challenge.
As the chefs start their hamburgers, most immediately grativate to the fish end of the spectrum. Again, I have problems with this as I have an allergic reaction to fish -- especially fried. Choices are all over the board. After Daniel judges the burgers, some of which resemble sandwiches more than burgers, the award goes to CJ. CJ will get to pick his team for restaurant wars.
CJ quickly chooses Brian, Casey, and Tre. The other team is Howie, Hung, Sara M., and Dale. Each must design a restaurant and the menus that will accompany them. Each group meets to discuss their plans.
Now here's where I missed some. CJ's team opens a restaurant called April's and to me it looks like the type of place I would eat. The decor is light and airy -- the front man is Brian who we are told is flustered and sweating. The other team opens a place called "The Garage." I must say -- I don't like the black decor and we are told that they use vanilla candles throughout the restaurant. I like vanilla but I don't think I could manage a whole meal smelling the vanilla scent.
Food reviews seem mixed and apparently the judges were not happy with either team. When the judges talk to both, no winner is declared. Both Brian and Dale, who worked out front, were called back before the judges. They are told that no one is eliminated and the restaurant wars will be held again the next night giving each team the chance to fix their problems.
So, the wars will continue next week. Till then....see ya next week
