With just six Bachelorettes remaining, Host Chris announces that this week there will be one group date and two individual dates. No roses will be handed out on the dates but at the end of the week, there will be four women left, who will all be getting a hometown visit from Andy. But first, Andy will be taking them all out on his yacht.
After Andy grills lunch, he splits his time between brunettes Tina, Amber and Tessa and blondes Bevin, Danielle and Stephanie.
Tina tells Andy he has something in his teeth -- and then removes it herself! Amber is horrified and says that "Tina does things that (the rest of us) don't do."
Bevin suggests going kayaking and Danielle and Stephanie are upset that, once again, Bevin is getting more time with Andy. They discuss how Amber and Bevin are the most forward in pursuing him. Tessa confesses that when things get competitive, she backs down.
Bevin kisses Andy, in full view of everyone else. Amber gets Andy to herself next in the hot tub, and says that the gossip about her is hurtful. Andy is alarmed to hear that the gossip problem didn't stop when Kate left. She tells him that she may only be 23, but that she thinks she's mature enough for him and that she's "had to grow up fast." He hugs her and tells her to focus on him and be strong.
A date box with wine glasses and paintbrushes arrives for Stephanie. The note reads "Bring your palate for a night of pleasure. Love, Andy."
Andy is hoping that he can get her to let her guard down. He takes her to a place in downtown L.A. called "Learn About Wine," where they sample and blend wines. He tells her the blend tastes "beautiful, like you." Next, they design a label for their blend. They paint with their hands and then Andy tells her to touch her paint-stained hand to her heart and they kiss.
Another date box arrives for Amber, Bevin, Tina and Danielle. "It's time to get down and dirty for a good cause. Love, Andy." Tessa isn't on the invitation, so she's the one getting the next solo date. Danielle frets that she's had the least time alone with Andy so far.
Andy tries to get Stephanie to open up. He asks her about her dreams but all she gives him are vague answers. He concludes that at 23, she doesn't know what she wants yet in life.
Stephanie is frustrated with herself that she wasn't able to let her guard down more.
For the next group date, Andy takes the women to Hollywood, where they'll be doing some charity work by building a playground. A representative from the Hollywood Beautification Team tells them they'll be painting a mural and planting trees and flowers and assembling toys. What they don't know is that the kindergartners are waiting inside to see the results.
Andy is looking to see how excited the women are about helping the community and helping children and Amber is happy to be able to share this side of herself with him. She says if he does come to her hometown, she'll take him to her classroom.
Tina, who regularly does volunteer work, is also "in her element" for this activity. She tells Andy she's given up trying to "fit in" with the other women and that living in the house is like being in high school again. Andy admires her for taking the high road and for being mature.
Danielle realizes she's going to have to step up her game if she's going to get a hometown visit from Andy, so she tells him about how she counseled a special needs child. She paints roses on the wall and he gives her a big hug in approval. He feels a connection between her because they've done similar kinds of charity work.
When they've finished the playground, Amber tells Andy she wishes she could see kids play on it. He goes to the door of the classroom and yells "Hey, kids!" and they all come out to see their handiwork. The women are thrilled that they're seeing the kids' reactions. Andy says he's pleasantly surprised at how Bevin interacts with the children, since he wasn't sure how she'd be around them. He also is impressed at how natural Amber is around the children.
The date box arrives for Tessa. The note reads, "Come as you are, I'll take care of the rest." Tessa is looking forward to her first one-on-one date and finding out if she and Andy have a real connection. Andy reveals that he requested this date with Tessa because he knows she doesn't want to be in the competition unless she knows he's really interested in her. Andy arrives with a Chopard jewelry case and inside are a beautiful diamond necklace and earrings. He puts them on Tessa, to the envy of all the other women.
Bevin is the most upset to see Andy lavishing affection on Tessa, because, as Amber puts it, "Bevin believes Andy is her boyfriend."
Next, Andy takes Tessa shopping for a dress at the Nicole Miller store on Sunset Blvd. She models dress after dress for him, and Andy votes for a strapless red gown. Privately, he admits that he's "giddy" to be spending this time alone with her. They dine at Yamashiro, which gives them a view of the whole city. They chat easily and Andy is impressed with her "depth, class and character."
Back at the house, the women are packing before the rose ceremony, in case they are the ones who are being sent home. Amber says she's "100 percent" sure that she won't be getting a rose after seeing the connection Andy has with Tessa. Danielle worries that he doesn't even know her at this point, since they've had so little time together. Bevin confesses that she doesn't know which way things will go. She says that if Andy chooses Tessa over her, she's going to "freak out."
Tessa tells Andy she's had a wonderful evening and that she might be taking baby steps towards him, but for her to open up is a big leap. He tells her she makes this whole process worth it and then he kisses her.
Andy joins the women for the thingytail party before the rose ceremony. He believes Amber would make a great mother, but he's concerned about how insecure she is. She hands him a chocolate wrapper that says, "Sometimes one smile is worth more than a dozen roses." She says that she would love a rose, but that she just loves hanging out with him too.
Andy compliments Bevin on her dress and she kisses him. She tells him that this has been tougher than she thought, but that no matter what happens, it will be an experience she remembers for the rest of her life. Privately, he reveals that he feels a "super electric charge" when he's around her.
But he's not feeling that charge with Tina, even though they connect intellectually. He's not sure if she even likes him.
Stephanie and Danielle wonder if maybe Tina's unassuming nature is a strategy, and if so, whether it will earn her a rose.
Tessa thanks Andy for the amazing night last night and he kisses her. She tells him she's convinced now that she wants to stay and they kiss again.
Danielle tells Andy how much she likes him and that she hopes she gets the chance to get to know him better. Privately, Andy says he thinks Danielle is the most emotionally invested out of all the women but he doesn't know if she's more of a friend or a partner.
Alone with Stephanie, Andy drinks the blend they made on their date. Andy was disappointed that she didn't tell him more of her hopes and dreams, so this is her second chance to share that with him. He asks what he'll be in store for if he goes back to Kansas with her and she says her family loves to tease her and will probably subject him to embarrassing videos of her days doing gymnastics.
The rest of the women join them and then Host Chris announces it's time for the rose ceremony. Andy says he's a naval lieutenant and an Iron Man, but he's never been through anything as tough as this.
Before he gives out the four roses for the evening, Andy tells the women that this is the hardest decision he's ever had to make.
Andy gives roses to:
Bevin
Amber
Tessa
Danielle
Which means that Stephanie and Tina are going home. Tina says she came looking for true love and she'd hoped to find it with Andy. "I'm afraid that this is the biggest regret of my entire life," she says.
Stephanie calls Andy "charming, but not my prince," and worries that she let him slip through her fingers. She reegrets how guarded she's been and not having done more to stay.
