As the show begins, we are treated to a recap – of the ecstasy, the agony, and shame that the cooks experienced this year. We see Rock and Bonnie start their final challenges. We also see Julia’s feelings come through. And it is no real surprise that Julia wants Rock to win. She has suffered at Bonnie’s hands throughout the competition with Bonnie’s comments on working on the line!
As the real show begins, Ramsey points out that it is the “battle of the sexes” – again! The day will change either Bonnie or Rock’s life. Bonnie is again talking about being better of the boys. Yet, two of the people on Bonnie’s team been – shall we say – stabbed in the back by Bonnie.
In the dorm, Rock is immediately in planning mode. He explains the stations while Bonnie is still bragging about being able to beat the guys. Bonnie is using the relax approach. She hasn’t gotten recipes. She’s relaxing on the couch and apparently not worried. Melissa is the one trying to figure out how to prepare the food.
Inside the restaurants, Bonnie and Rock focus on the team and stations. Rock is working hard just like his team and offering encouragement. He knows he has to keep the guys motivated. On the ladies’ side, they seem to be working slowly. Bonnie is called by Julia on treating her like an idiot.
Bonnie’s area has a problem and she is called out to look at the restaurant. There is not enough wall paper to finish her design. There’s a bubble that Bonnie questions. She’s trying not to cry but you can see she’s upset.
Rock, on the other hand, is shown paying attention to detail. Rock sees Josh as not trusting himself and Rock tells him that he has placed his trusts in Josh. This is in sharp contrast to Bonnie. Bonnie is going to be on Julia’s and Melissa’s back all night.
Phone call and I miss all the comments Ramsey makes on Bonnie’s food – but it appears that Ramsey wasn’t exactly happy. Rock’s got a very good on one of his dish and basically it looks like he’s passed muster. Rock says that all the things Ramsey wanted to change were fixable. Bonnie’s food is dainty while Rock’s appear heavy.
The workers are still trying to get Rock’s finished. Ramsey checks on Bonnie’s and we see what he describes as a sophisticated, simplistic look. He doesn’t see any intimidation. Roses are everywhere – Ramsey calls it a neighborhood restaurant. Rock’s restaurant is similar because he wanted a sense of elegance and a sense of home. Ramsey calls it very smart.
The restaurants are about to open. Ramsey calls Bonnie and Rock over and presents them with master chef jackets. He reminds them of what is at stake. Each leave to put on a master chef jacket and each are so proud.
Rock and Bonnie do last minute pep talks. Rock seems more sincere than Bonnie and you have to wonder if Bonnie can keep her word. Bonnie calls her team her brigade. Rock talks to each of his team members and offers encouragement. Rock comes out on top with that.
Customers are placing orders. Rock gets the first order and he sounds strong with the order. The guys are ready. Bonnie on the other hand gives her and seems a little panicked. Rock hears the members and the time to the window. Both teams are working hard. Ramsey likes the start. The teams get their first appetizers out at the same time. Bonnie wants to keep her team going and already seems to have a chip on her shoulder. She is trying to get Julia to talk and Bonnie is calling “energy up.”
Rock is relying on Josh to keep the appetizers going out. Rock finds something wrong with the appetizers and tells Josh to do it quickly. Rock tells Josh to keep him informed if he has trouble. Rock wants it quicker than Josh has it ready.
Bonnie seems to be doing well but is wanting stuff immediately. She seems to stay on her cooks’ back even though they tell her when it is coming. Bonnie isn’t listening to Julia (so what else is new?). Ramsey sees it and looks shocked. Ramsey calls her on it. Bonnie only says – pick up the pace.
Bonnie gets appetizers out but Rock is having problems. Josh is having problems on the station and Rock is reminded to do Ramsey’s standards. Brad is watching and worried about his part of the service.
Bonnie has gotten her appetizers out and started on entrees. Bonnie is upset because there’s not enough fettuccini. Bonnie tells Jean Philippe that it is going to be regular spaghetti. When Ramsey asks, Bonnie admits that she doesn’t know the number of preps that were prepared.
Rock is pushing Josh. Brad is trying to pick up the service. Ramsey is telling Rock that Josh is messing up and Rock is urging Josh to get it together. Rock says he will work every station to be sure that dishes are ready and get out.
Ramsey is now on Josh’s back. Rock tells him to stop and asks what he is doing. Rock wonders what he should do and eventually takes Josh off appetizers. Vinnie is trying to save the fish station. He seems to be working well but you can see he has some confusion. Rock is now on their back. Dishes are going out. Rock’s leadership is showing itself.
Bonnie’s team is communicating but Bonnie doesn’t like what she’s hearing. Bonnie is running out of food and it doesn’t appear to be well cooked. Jean Phillipe has brought a dish back and there isn’t enough food to give them the same dishes. Bonnie has been working in silence and now she wants her team to talk to her. Julia snaps back at her and Bonnie is shocked.
Rock’s team has found their rhythm and Rock is helping them at trouble stations. They have nearly caught up on the entrees. Bonnie is pushing her team for desserts and Julia and the others are pushing back. Julia stands up to Bonnie and Bonnie accuses her of fighting. Julia tells her she won’t argue with her. Bonnie seems to be taking it out on Julia. When Ramsey questions her, Bonnie is almost in tears and he is disgusted.
As the teams finishes up – Rock and Bonnie both want to impress Ramsey. Rock tells him team not to freak out. Bonnie has never really worked to help at a station. All she’s done is argued.
Dinner is over. Rock says that Josh screwed up and Rock feels it may have hurt his service. Bonnie thanks the women. Julia tells Bonnie she doesn’t really hate her. Rock’s wife and children show up. They remind Rock why he came out to LA. He asks his wife to pray for him.
Ramsey addresses the teams. When asked, Rock tells Ramsey he would have changed how he picked. Rock tells all he would have picked Jen first which makes Jen smile. Rock tells Josh that he appreciates what Josh did but Rock wouldn’t have had Josh on his team. Joss is “pissed off.” Ramsey asks Bonnie. She says she would have doubled-checked everything. Ramsey tells them it is the strongest he has seen either of them performed. Bonnie is proud of herself. Rock is proud but knows he has not won. Ramsey says it is hard for him. He praises them because they didn’t give up.
Ramsey asks if they are ready for his decision. Rock and Bonnie are told to tell their team good-bye and go back to the dorm to relax. Each congratulates their team and they commiserate in the dorms. Rock feels disappointed because ir wasn’t a smooth service. Bonnie is happy with the opportunity. Bonnie feels that she has proven she has a talent.
Ramsey is looking at the comment cards and his observations in the kitchen. Rock’s main problem has been Josh. Bonnie problem is about prep and the undercooking. Rock is nervous. Bonnie is lying down. We learn that Rock thinks Bonnie has won and he tells her so. Bonnie’s reply: “whatever.”
Both chefs walk out to meet Ramsey. Ramsey tells them that this is it and they get a well-done from Ramsey. Bonnie has surprised him the most because of her assertiveness. Ramsey tells Rock that he is “rock solid.” Ramsey tells them that he has made tough decisions but tonight’s is one of the hardest he has had to make. They are told to stand in front of their doors. One will open to the future and be the winner and head chef with a salary of $250,000. They put their hands on the door handle and Rock seems to be praying. The door that opens is . . . commercial gang!
The count is given and Rock and Bonnie turn the handle. Everyone is anxious. When they turn the handle, the winner is Rock and he is in tears. His wife has a huge smile on her face and Bonnie comes out to congratulate him. Ramsey tells him to “enjoy it.” His wife and family move over to meet him at the bottom of the stairs. Rock tells us that this is so big for him and his family. He does everything for them. He wants to show his family that if you keep at it you can do anything. Ramsey hugs Rock and we are told that he is a good cook and can lead people. A champagne bath finishes up the show.
