We get to relive the horror of last week, but I'm not going to type it up this late in the day. I got a little behind this week due to lightning hitting my office, but on we go.
We begin with Terry telling the tribe how one gets to become a fighter pilot. Courtney, Cirie and Danielle listen from afar and think a person has to be crazy to want to be a Navy fighter pilot. Terry comments that tribal council was sad because Austin went home....well DUH, whose fault is that, Terry? He says he plans to kick butt as much as possible to the end of the game. Courtney is thinking that IF he has the idol, they need to make him use it as soon as possible and get rid of it so they can get him out. She is assuming that Terry won't win every immunity challenge from here to the end. Any other season, with any other player, I would have doubted that ANYONE could last through the entire individual immunity part of the game without losing the idol at least once, probably more than once. This season, Terry may very well set a record. He doesn't seem to be getting weaker. While he looks scruffier, Shane looks more drawn and weak than he does, by far.
Danielle isn't sure that the "furry thing" that Terry showed her is really the idol. She thinks he may be bluffing, even though she saw the thing. She thinks he may have just found something in the woods and is claiming it's the idol. Part of the reason they can't understand that he actually has the idol is that they think if he actually had it, he would have saved Nick or Austin and one of them would have been sent home. It would be crazy if he let them go when he had immunity AND the idol. I can agree with that. I believe that is one reason the trying to bribe Danielle to come over to their side with the "idol" failed. She couldn't believe it really was the idol.
Aras wants to snoop around to find out if T-Dog (Terry) has that thing or not. He knows he's a target and he wants to know if it's around because he could easily be the big target.
The reward challenge begins with them seated in a little hut to watch the videos of family from home. They get to see just a bit of the tape as an appetizer, but if they win the challenge, they get to see the entire tape. Terry is up first and gets to see his wife, Trish, son Danny and daughter Kayla, and dog Riley. Danielle gets to see her whole family including a little pug bulldog in a sweater. Bruce gets to see wife and daughter and dog. He's been married to her for 28 years. Courtney gets to see her mom Barbara. They are doing a bunch of weird spiritual stuff to give her good luck. Aras gets to see his dad on a bicycle. He invites Aras into a teepee in the backyard. Shane is a basket case. His son is there with a dog and Shane is boohooing pitifully. Sally gets to see her mom sister and dad. Cirie gets to see her hubby and two sons. In addition to the tapes, if they win, they get peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and ice cold milk.
The challenge consists of the tribe being divided into two teams of four. One member ill be in a canoe shaped cradle suspended from bungie cords with ropes attached to the cradle so that when the other three members of the team pull on their ropes, the cradle in the center can be maneuvered around a square area where there are flags that the member in the cradle must retrieve. There are 15 flags that must be retrieved and placed in order in the appropriate slots. The tribe to complete the challenge first wins reward. The winning team also decides who goes to exile island.
White cradle is Courtney being moved by Bruce, Sally and Terry. The black cradle is Danielle being pulled by Aras, Shane and Cirie. Danielle get a flag first and put into the slot but Courtney follows quickly with one of her own. It should be noted that in order to reach the flags and their destinations, the team members have to stretch the bungie cords to their limits so it requires a lot of strength. Both teams seem to be tied most of the way through the challenge. Unfortunately, Aras knocks the number one flag out with the rope and their team has to go back and retrieve it and replace it before continuing on. Courtney's team is still going strong. The Danielle team knocks that number one flag out AGAIN. Courtney's team wins. Bruce, Sally, Courtney and Terry will get to see their videos and they send Aras to Exile Island. Shane, Cirie and Danielle are sent back to camp and the winners are off to enjoy their ice cold milk and sandwiches while they watch their videos.
Shane says the tapes would have wrecked him (true, very true) but what he really hates losing were the sandwiches and milk. I will note that not as much time is spent by this year's group trying to get food. At least it seems that way to me. I'm not sure why, but they all seem to be willing to pretty much starve until something is won in a challenge or something falls into their hands by accident. Maybe they just aren't showing it as much. At any rate, Shane does seem to suffer from hunger and looks very gaunt.
Cirie thinks maybe he was just trying to lift their spirits. Then Shane had a medical emergency. He tells Cirie he has a problem with his thingy. She says, can you describe it to me or do I have to look at it. He keeps saying, You are a nurse. You can look at it. She is losing it, big time, laughing, but says that Shane has a problem with his privates. So, being luckily the only nurse there. She has to look at it. He drops his drawers and shows her. She is trying to be professional but she is laughing her ass off. Apparently his thingy and testicles are very red and rashed up. She tells him it is basically diaper rash from being wet all the time.
Shane strips. Lots of blurred buttocks and stuff. Heh, and stuff. Cirie says it does make her laugh and helped her forget not getting to eat and see her family video. Shane makes a skirt, he calls it his chafing skirt.
Aras is out on Exile Island looking for Terry's idol. He says that it says it's under a rock in the clues, but the problem with that is that rocks have been moved. He also thinks that Terry sent him out there knowing his competitive nature would make him search for it wasting his time and energy.
Danielle didn't want to even talk to the others when they came back. Apparently they were all given their luxury items at the reward. Danielle says it adds insult to injury. Terry's luxury item was an American Flag from his father-in-law's casket. Courtney got her fire toys, from her fire dancing stuff. Bruce got his sketchbook, and Sally got her journal. Cirie thinks Courtney's toys are the coolest luxury item. Courtney goes out on the beach and does some routines with her toys. Cirie admits it is entertaining.
Day 24 begins and Bruce is sketching in his sketchbook. He's pretty good. Terry tells Sally that she must get Courtney, Danielle or Cirie to switch sides. Sally thinks that if Terry or she wins immunity, then the other will have the idol and then they can force one of the others to go home. Sally is obviously delusional thinking Terry has a clue.
The immunity challenge begins with Aras returning from Exile Island. Jeff gives each tribe member a nut and a shell. He tells them to put the nut in one hand and the shell in the other hand. There is a long plank underwater with 7 symbols on it. They must swim out and memorize them in order and put them on their answer board in the same order. There is a twist today, however. Those who do not think they need immunity can chow down on cheeseburgers, french fries and soft drinks and they can eat as long as the challenge goes on. If they want to take part in the challenge, show Jeff the shell, if they want to take part and compete, show the nut. Terry, Sally and Aras elect to compete while Shane, Danielle, Courtney, Bruce and Cirie elect to eat.
The competitors run down the beach and into the water. The eaters dive into the burgers. The symbols are the familiar skulls, dagger, and stuff. Aras thinks he has it, but he does not. He goes back to swim out and look. Terry wins. Wow, I'm shocked and stunned. The others must now quit eating. For the third straight time Terry wins individual immunity.
Sally is happy for Terry. She has no clue.
Aras tells the others that he thinks Terry has the idol. He thinks that if Terry gives the idol to Sally then one of THEM will go home. He is obviously delusional as well. They think Terry will actually try to keep some of his allies around. Sally tells Cirie that if two of the women, Danielle, Courtney or Cirie will switch and vote with them, then Terry will give her the immunity idol and they will have the numbers for the rest of the game. Sally tells the camera that Terry has decided that if they don't turn two of the women BEFORE tribal council, he won't give her the idol. Wow, I'm so shocked. Sally is a lot nicer about this than I would be. Terry is still talking to various people like Courtney and Bruce trying to turn one of the old Casaya members. Nobody will commit to his plan. I'm NOT shocked or surprised.
Cirie says she thinks he's trying to win every single challenge. She can't understand why Terry hasn't helped anyone with that idol. Terry says that if Courtney won't change her vote, he won't give the idol to Sally. He says if he can guarantee the numbers then he won't have to win another challenge until the final three....as if MR. COMPETITIVE will actually throw an immunity challenge. Riiiiiight.
Jeff wonders why so many of the tribe were willing to eat instead of compete. Sally says it's frustrating to see the confidence of the other members of the tribe. Aras said it was frustrating to him that no other members of the old Casaya tribe wanted to compete and try to take "Terry's Immunity Necklace" away from him. Shane says Terry would have to win 6 straight immunities to win the game and he doesn't think that will happen, but if anyone can do it, Terry could. He is a 47 year old BEAST.
Terry says he plans to continue winning immunities no matter what. Danielle says it's so all about Terry. Jeff says, it's funny that Danielle is talking about Terry being overconfident considering the fact that she was one of the first to go for the cheeseburgers today instead of competing. Cirie tells Jeff there are about 15 different stories about whether anyone has the immunity idol from Exile Island or not. Aras says he doesn't want it to come into play tonight because he thinks he would go home.
They vote. Sally and Terry vote for Aras. Aras, Shane, Bruce, Courtney, Danielle and Cirie all vote for Sally. This week, I'm not even really excited. I have no delusions. Sure enough, Jeff reads the votes and Sally comes forward to have her torch snuffed. She is soon making that long walk away from the game.
Well, now it's just Terry. He will survive at least one more week. He has that immunity idol. Whether he continues to win immunity or not, nobody knows. I do know though, that his inability to see an opportunity to keep his allies with him in this game doesn't sit well with me and I will not rejoice in his victories. I now hope that Cirie wins. She deserves it, for no other reason than that she was forced to look at Shane's rash.
