Eighteen fresh-faced candidates arrive for the world's most grueling job interview – you can meet them on the "Candidates" page of this website. Trump greets them on the driveway of their new home overlooking the City of Angels.
After introductions, Trump has everyone get to know each other by building a giant tent in the backyard. Heidi starts out leading the project until Frank's booming, barking voice signals an unwanted operational shift.
Once the tent is up, the candidates pay Trump a visit in the boardroom of his imposing hilltop mansion. After hearing the group's assessment of the tent-building exercise, Trump chooses Frank and Heidi to become the first project managers and has them pick teams.
For their fist task, the teams have to run competing car washes. The team that makes the most money wins. In a twist, the winning project manager will not only advise Trump in the boardroom, but he or she will remain project manager until the team loses a task. After choosing their teams, it's off to the car wash.
Frank's hyperactive style makes it hard for his team to gel. Obsessed by getting fliers together, Frank takes off and Tim picks up the reigns. Meanwhile, Heidi rolls up her sleeves and gets right to work – they even hire two guys to hawk a "free lunch" in their West Hollywood location.
Ivanka stops by to check up on the two teams and is surprised that Heidi is pushing volume over price, but is even more surprised to find that Frank is nowhere to be found.
When the last hose trickles to a stop, the results come in and Heidi's team edges out Frank's with total sales amounting to $2,463 vs. $2,345. Heidi's team gets to enjoy dinner at Spago and live in the mansion while Frank's team is forced to live outside in the tent where they must rough it until they win a task.
Heidi's team basks in the glories of mansion life while Frank and his crew get used to their backyard "accommodations." In the dark, they have to do everything by flashlight and without electricity or basic necessities like sinks that drain properly.
The next night, Heidi's team joins The Donald and Wolfgang Puck for dinner at Spago in Beverly Hills while Frank's crew eats off paper plates in the backyard and argues about what is to come in the impending boardroom session.

As winning project manager, Heidi joins Trump in the boardroom to help him make his firing decision. Martin speaks up first by telling Trump that they had marketing problems and that Frank failed to set a good price point. Ivanka thinks that Frank's strategy to cater to a high-end clientele was incorrect.
Frank tries to throw Tim under the bus by focusing on his role as head of sales. Tim takes full credit for taking on this assignment, but Ivanka turns the conversation back to Frank, who then attempts to blame Martin for the team's loss.
Trump goes around the table and asks selected team members whom he should fire, and the consensus is Frank, though Nicole and Aaron think that Martin should go be sent to the chopping block. At the end of the session, Frank picks Martin and Tim to return to the boardroom with him.
After consulting with Heidi and Ivanka, Trump summons Martin, Tim, and Frank back to the boardroom. Frank accuses Martin of not stepping up. Martin interrupts him and things quickly descend into a shouting match between the two. Frank insists that Tim doesn't really belong in the boardroom and Trump sends him away.
Martin defends his performance and Frank defends his decision of focusing on up-selling each customer. Ivanka weighs in that the other team worked much harder and then Frank starts saying that Martin is "brilliant," which Trump finds to be a move that is "not smart." Frank explains he meant that Martin is "book wise" but not brilliant in any other respect.
Frank fights for his life and Trump carefully weighs what Frank has to say. Ivanka doesn't think that Martin will mesh with the Trump organization and fights for Frank to remain. Trump agrees that Martin doesn't have what it takes. Though Trump finds Martin to be very smart and a great guy, that doesn't matter. "Martin, You're fired."
