Lorenzo must now decide between the last two bachelorettes: Sadie, the sweet, conservative San Diego native who is saving herself for marriage; and Jen, the self-described daddy's girl from Miami who loves her job as an eighth-grade teacher.
He knows the decision will be hard, so he's glad his parents are in town to meet both women and give him their thoughts on each. His mother, Princess Amanda, and father, Prince Francesco, arrive by limo. They've been married for 40 years, so Lorenzo trusts their input. They tell Lorenzo they're there to help and will love whomever he ends up choosing. His mother has a surprise for him: She's designed an engagement ring that he can present to the woman of his choice.
Jen admits she's nervous to meet Lorenzo's parents but she hugs them both warmly. Francesco asks why she likes Lorenzo and she says when she pictures her future husband, she pictures Lorenzo now, since he has all the qualities she wants in a husband and father of her children. Amanda asks Lorenzo if he can say, in front of Jen, why she is one of the last two remaining women. He says he admires her strength and independence and that if he was down, he thinks she could pick him up. And that she has all the qualities he's looking for in a wife. Amanda asks Jen how she differs from Sadie. She says she's more direct than Sadie and that she's tougher, probably because her father made her that way. In turn, Jen asks what they are looking for in a daughter-in-law and Francesco answers "Someone who makes Lorenzo happy."
Francesco takes Lorenzo aside and tells him he approves of Jen, while Amanda talks one-on-one with Jen. Jen tells Amanda that Lorenzo gives her butterflies. Amanda reveals she's a palm reader. She takes Jen's hand and tells her that she knows she's a daddy's girl. And that her fate will be determined by the man she marries, that she'll live where he lives or will work with him in some way. She also predicts she will definitely get married and have two children, a boy and a girl.
That evening, Sadie arrives to meet his parents and she hugs them both. They ask what she likes about Lorenzo and she says that she loves that he has layers: he can be serious but he can also be witty and sarcastic and she loves both sides of him. Francesco asks if there was a particular moment when she knew she was falling for Lorenzo. She tells them of the time they went flying and she knew she trusted him completely.
She also says that she wants a man who is stronger than her, one that won't let her walk all over him. Francesco says he thinks Sadie is a "ball of fire" and a great girl. Amanda asks Sadie how she differs from Jen, and she says she thinks she's more spontaneous than Jen, which is what Jen said about Sadie!
After discovering that Sadie is a Pisces, just like Jen, Amanda reads Sadie's palm too. She tells her that her head rules her heart and that she's a risk taker, but not when it comes to romance. Sadie admits that she's saving herself for marriage, so she does let her head rule her heart. Amanda and Francesco say that they like both girls and that they can see why Lorenzo is having such a tough time choosing between them.
Amanda has secretly arranged for both sets of parents to come to Rome, hoping that seeing Sadie and Jen interact with their parents will help Lorenzo come to a decision. Lorenzo is upset, since having them all together is going to be incredibly awkward.
Jen is ecstatic to see her parents again when they knock on her hotel room door, and so is Sadie when her parents surprise her. Both Sadie and Jen and their parents embark separately for Lorenzo's villa, not knowing that her rival and her family have also been invited to brunch with the Borgheses.
Dennis, Jennifer's father, feels immediately intimidated since Francesco is wearing a suit and he's wearing jeans and boat shoes. When asked what he thinks of the possibility of Lorenzo and Jen getting engaged, he answers, "Very scary!"
When Sadie and her parents arrive, she's shocked to see Jen already there. The tension is palpable but then they start realizing the similarities. Both girls' mothers are guidance counselors. Both dads have glasses and a slight beard.
They go into eat brunch and Francesco gives a toast in Italian, to the families who came from so far away, and to the two beautiful daughters. Dennis says how awkward this must be for Lorenzo, and why doesn't he just make his pick right now, in front of everyone? Sadie is visibly annoyed and Jen is mortified.
Lorenzo, alone with the two bachelorettes, tells them he's sorry this is so awkward and that he likes both of them very much. Jen points out how similar she and Sadie are and that Lorenzo definitely has a type, which Sadie is not happy to hear. He says that saying goodbye to whichever one he doesn't choose will break his heart.
Alone with Francesco, Dennis and Reed, Sadie's father, admit that they both feel things are happening too quickly.
It's time for Lorenzo's parents to leave and he is still unsure about his choice. He goes to both fathers for their blessings if he's going to propose to either daughter. Dennis is silent for a moment and then tells Lorenzo, "That's a tough one." He says it depends if Lorenzo is going to give her his whole heart but that really, it's up to Jennifer. He confides to the camera that he's impressed Lorenzo made the gesture of talking to him first.
Meanwhile, Jen's mother helps her prepare for the final rose ceremony. They drink a toast to her "possibly being a princess." Her father arrives and reveals that Lorenzo just asked him for her hand in marriage, and that he gave his okay. Jen says she's completely overwhelmed.
Next, Lorenzo goes to ask Reed for his blessing for Sadie, and says he feels nervous and uncomfortable, having to ask two fathers the same thing in one day. Reed gives his blessing, saying he trusts Sadie and he can see that she trusts and cares for Lorenzo.
Sadie's mother tells her that if Lorenzo is as smart as she thinks he is, he'll choose Sadie, but she has to be prepared for whatever happens. Sadie is startled when her father tells her that Lorenzo met with him and asked for his blessing. She starts to cry when she says how much it means to her that her father approves of Lorenzo.
For their final date, Lorenzo and Sadie go sailing. She tells the camera that she feels like she's been holding her breath this whole time because she's not sure what's going to happen. They see a rainbow, so Lorenzo insists she has to kiss him. He says later that it's gone so fast, but that sailing alone with Sadie on the water gave him a sense of peace.
At dinner, she tells him that she's the kind of person who loves with her whole heart, but that she can't be that open when she knows there's another girl involved. She makes a toast to getting to meet him and, she hopes, to the beginning of something incredible. She presents him with a gift, a scrapbook in which she's pasted the first rose he gave her, a postcard of the Colosseum in memory of their first group date, and the note with which he gave her the key to the Fantasy Suite. She also shows him a list she wrote a while ago, of the qualities she's looking for in a guy. She says she kept rereading it and he kept meeting all her requirements. She says she wants a lot because she has a lot to give and that she's so glad she met him. After he says goodnight, she says she feels like it's not the end, but the beginning of something amazing.
The next day, Jen and Lorenzo go horseback riding for their last date. She tells the camera that she's definitely fallen for him, but it's scary because Sadie could have the same thing with him. She realizes she has to put herself on the line and let him know how she feels. She can tell that his decision is weighing on him. For dinner, he takes her to a private house on a hill that he's rented. A thunderstorm hits as they grill outside and he feels that the storm is symbolic. She tells him that she could really see herself in New York and that she thinks she could be happy there. He says that means a lot, since he wouldn't want anyone to give up their career or life for his sake.
He mentions the morning she left Sweden and says he felt like she was on the verge of telling him something. She admits she got really scared in Sweden because things were so intense, so she got up early to think things through. She says she feels lucky to be here and that she hopes that she's the girl he picks. Jen says that she's scared but that she respects that he can't respond to what she's saying and she respects that.
To the camera, she says that she's put herself out there enough to get hurt, but that to find love, you have to take a risk. She mentions the Trevi Fountain to him, and says that all three of her wishes have come true and she knows about two of his, but not his third wish. He reminds her that you can't reveal a wish until it comes true, and that his third wish hasn't come true yet. Of course, she hopes that the third wish is about her, and if so, she knows it will come true.
Lorenzo leaves Jennifer even more confused than ever. He goes to bed having made a decision, but in the morning, he starts to question it. He says he could see a future with either one, while Sadie and Jen reveal they are each ready to spend the rest of their life with Lorenzo.
Lorenzo goes to see the ring that his mother designed, an enormous diamond with several smaller diamonds set into the band on either side.
Both women prepare to meet Lorenzo: Sadie is in a flowy, Grecian-style white dress with silver trim and Jen is in an elegant beaded black dress.
Sadie arrives first. Lorenzo tells her she looks unbelievable and kisses her. He says how he was drawn to her right away and that he had strong feelings for her ever since their plane ride. He was touched by her gift of the scrapbook and cites her wish on her list for a man who can't ever fathom being with another woman. He tells her that, sadly, there is another woman, and that, at this point, he would rather be with her.
She tells him that he knows what's best for him and that she wants him to be happy, so she's trying her best to be mature and gracious. He's sadder than she is, almost on the verge of tears, and she has to reassure him that she's okay. But then she has to wipe away some tears and admit she's not so good right now. She says she feels foolish because she thought it was real and he is adamant that everything he said to her was 100 percent real. He gives her a farewell hug and walks her to the limo and says watching her limo leave is the worst moment so far. Later, he says that being the Bachelor sounds like fun, but it's not when emotions get involved, and that he feels terrible for hurting Sadie's feelings. He doesn't bother to wipe away the tears running down his face.
In the limo, Sadie can't understand how she could feel something so strongly, and that he didn't. "I took such a huge chance. It's sad because I just wanted to be with him," she says, saying she'd never taken such a big chance before because she didn't want to get hurt, and now she has been.
Lorenzo waits for Jennifer with a rose and a ring. He says he came on the show to find love and that he has because he can picture her as his wife now and 40 years from now. "I feel like the luckiest guy in the world," he says. She arrives and he hugs and kisses her and tells her she looks beautiful. He says he can finally tell her the third wish he made at the Trevi Fountain. Even better, he can show it to her. He brings out the ring and she gasps. He says he loves her but that he's dying to get out of this Garden of Eden and get back to the real world, if she's willing to take it on with him.
She says that's she fallen in love with him and she can't wait to be a New York City girl. He says he loves everything about her, and that he loves her. She tells him she loves him too. He picks her up and swings her around.
A montage of their moments together plays, ending with their kiss at the Trevi Fountain, when he made his wish that's now come true.
